Horton Modern
Grade School Modern (Ages 9-Teen Only)
Modern classes are technique classes designed to correct and improve dancer’s physical limitations so that they might pursue any form of dance. The Horton technique concentrates on defining shapes and dancer’s ability to move through the shapes with energy and use of space.
Some of the exercises used to strengthen the body are flat-backs, lateral stretches, tilt lines, lunges, and circular movements. The primary focus of this class is to create length in the spine and hamstrings. As the student progresses, exercises will become longer and more complex.
Students enrolled in 9-12 Ballet 2 & 3 and any Teen Ballet class are eligible to enroll.
